our story
In 2006, Michelle visited Eastern Africa and fell in love with community of Njewa. Her hope had been to establish a long-term partnership with the village. Two years later she began taking vintage materials (neckties, jackets, placemats, etc.) and constructing them into one-of-a-kind handbags. Her passion for refashioning old into new led to the start of VintageRemade. In an epiphany of sorts, Michelle saw a beautiful opportunity to use her new business venture to support the Njewa community. She later relocated to Los Angeles where she's now growing the business one purse at a time, wholeheartedly committed to the idea that beauty is found.
